Mum transforms toilet with unlikely Woolworths budget buy

An Australian mum has shared her secret for removing stubborn stains from her toilet with no scrubbing at all.

Sharing on a popular Facebook page, mum Lauren revealed how she uses McKenzie’s Citric Acid – which she purchased from Woolworths – to transform her loo.

While Bunnings product Scalex has long been a popular tool for erasing black marks and stains from toilets, Lauren says she achieved similar results using the supermarket buy.

“I hate cleaning toilets,” wrote Lauren on the Mums Who Clean page.

“Two [tins of] citric acids dumped in the toilet for nine hours. The hardest part of the whole process was keeping people out of that bathroom and not use the toilet!

“I was going to use Scalex but citric acid worked out a bit cheaper per 100g and I could get it during my usual weekly shop.”

Other members of the groups have also had amazing results with the Woolies buy, which is available in the baking aisle.

“I did this with mine a couple of weeks ago,” said one.

“I just sprinkled a generous amount in (probably not even 1/4 of the tin). Left over night and then completely forgot about it in the morning.

“The kids used it before I could scrub it clean but it came up amazing anyway. I will definitely use this method again.”

Said another: “Citric acid is the best! Awesome for toilets.”
