Sedalia Police Reports for February 18, 2022

Thursday night, Officers responded to the 1100 block of South Massachusetts Avenue in reference to an animal attack. The complainant stated he was bitten by an unknown dog. During the course of the investigation, Officers determined a domestic assault had occurred. The victim had left the residence. The dog was taken to the animal shelter and quarantined. All parties were properly identified and state charges are being requested for Domestic Assault.


Early Thursday morning, Officers were dispatched to the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Limit Avenue to assist with a traffic stop. The vehicle had been stopped for driving at 62 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. The driver could not provide proof of insurance. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Kyle Davis, 39, of Kansas City, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department. Davis refused to provide a breath sample. A search warrant was obtained, and Davis was transported to the Bothwell Regional Health Center for a blood draw. Once the blood draw was completed, Davis was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked. A request for the charges of Driving While Intoxicated, Speeding, and No Proof of Insurance have been submitted to the prosecutor.


Sedalia Police responded to the 500 block of East 10th Street Thursday evening in reference to a missing person. The subjects returned to the residence during the course of the call. Both subject's information was run through Dispatch. It was confirmed the male had an active warrant out of Pettis County for Failure to Appear on original charges of Fishing Without A Permit. Daniel L. Uptegrove, 23, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked on his warrant, pending a $250 cash only bond.


Officers responded to the 500 block of East 13th Street Thursday night in reference to a sexual assault. The complainant stated a female juvenile was sexually molested by another male juvenile. A report was completed, and a hotline call was made.


Thursday morning, Officers responded to the Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers, 3171 West Broadway Boulevard, for a report of a disturbance. The caller stated the suspect involved in the disturbance had just driven by the call address, and he had a felony warrant. An Officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle near South Warren Avenue and West Broadway Boulevard. The suspect fled from the vehicle on foot. The suspect was apprehended after a short foot pursuit. A check through Dispatch confirmed the suspect had three active Pettis County warrants. One warrant was a Failure to Appear on original charges of Property Damage in the 2nd Degree. One warrant was for a charge of felony Property Damage in the 1st Degree, and another warrant was for Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree. The warrants held a total of $5,000 cash or surety bond and $500 cash only bond. Deandre A. Willis, 26, of Sedalia, was arrested on his warrants and then transported to the BRHC for treatment of injuries sustained while fleeing in the snow. A state charge of felony Resisting Arrest has been submitted to the prosecutor's office on Willis.

Sedalia Police Reports for February 18, 2022


Thursday evening, Officers were dispatched to the Truman Inn, 3501 West Broadway Boulevard for a disturbance. The disturbance involved ensuring the well being of an elderly person. A hotline call was made to the division of aging, and they are handling the case moving forward.


Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 400 block of South Grand Avenue Wednesday afternoon for a report of an assault no longer in progress. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with the caller, who stated her roommate had assaulted her earlier. The caller said she then assaulted the suspect in self defense.


Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 2400 block of West 1st Street Terrace for a disturbance Thursday afternoon. Katrina Miesner reported a juvenile at the home had damaged a lock, causing minor damage. A referral was forwarded to the juvenile department.


An Officer was dispatched to the Somerset Apartments, in the 800 block of Ruth Ann Drive Thursday afternoon in reference to a theft report. Alma D. Blagonya reported that in the overnight hours, someone stole ID's and credit/debit cards out of her vehicle.


On the afternoon of January 20th, Officers were dispatched to the Police Station lobby for a report of theft that occurred at the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard. Officers met with the caller, who stated a known suspect had been trespassed from the store, but was spotted on January 13th in the store attempting to steal items.


On Monday February 14th, an Officer took a report regarding a former employee of Endless Kustoms, 2907 West Broadway Boulevard, stealing two rims from the store. The combined value of the rims was placed at $948.00. The rims were later found installed on the suspect's vehicle. While the suspect claims to have purchased them, there is no evidence suggesting this is the case. On Wednesday morning, the suspect was arrested for Stealing at their home in the 600 block of West 4th Street. John T. Johnson II, 31, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24 hour hold. The vehicle was towed and a hold was placed on it pending a warrant to remove the wheels so they can be returned to the store.


Wednesday afternoon, Officers spoke with a caller regarding their child being inappropriately touched near the intersection of West 24th Street and South Grand Avenue. The suspect has yet to be identified.


Sedalia Police recognized a vehicle parked in front of a home in the 1600 block of South Engineer Avenue Wednesday afternoon. Officers had knowledge that the common driver of the vehicle had a warrant for their arrest. Officers made contact with the suspect at the home where the vehicle was parked. Dispatch confirmed the warrant. Walter P. Nicholson II, 28, Homeless, was arrested on his warrant out of Johnson County on charges of Burglary in the 2nd Degree. Officers transported Nicholson to the Pettis County Jail, pending a $5,000 cash only bond.


Wednesday morning, Sean Frye came to the Police Department to turn in a cell phone that he had found in the 400 block of West Pettis Street. The owner of the phone was located, and the property was returned to them.


Sedalia Police performed a warrant check on a subject near East 6th Street and South New York Avenue Wednesday afternoon. A check through Dispatch showed the subject had an active Sedalia warrant for Failure to Appear on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a License. Aullnie E. Colvin, 46, of Sedalia, was arrested on his warrant and transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a $200 cash only bond.


Wednesday afternoon, Officers became aware of robbery that occurred in Sedalia on Tuesday in the area of West 10th Street and South Moniteau Avenue. Walter Nicholson stated items were taken from him at gunpoint, but he did not want to pursue charges.


Officers were dispatched to a report of a hit and run accident Tuesday afternoon. When Officers arrived, they spoke with Cary J. Howerton Jr. Howerton was the owner of the vehicle that had been hit. Howerton stated that sometime between Monday and Tuesday, someone hit his vehicle that was parked in front of his residence in the 500 block of East 11th Street. There are no suspects at this time. However, a mirror from the suspect vehicle was found nearby and collected as evidence. Photos of the damage were taken and attached to the case.


Wednesday morning, Officers initiated a traffic stop on a truck near East Broadway Boulevard and South Marvin Avenue because the registered owner was a suspended driver. Officers made contact with the driver, who was the registered owner. A check through Dispatch confirmed the driver's status was suspended. Shiloh Daniel Best, 39, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Police Department. Best was issued a city ticket for Driving While Suspended with a court date.


On February 11th, 2022, a caller reported to the Sedalia Police Department that his credit card had been stolen. More than $3,700 worth of charges had been recently made on the card. A suspect was developed. The suspect was located in the Wal Mart parking lot, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, on February 12th. Oleg A. Mironov, 27, Homeless, was arrested. A search of Mironov's vehicle located items possibly taken from a stolen car in 2019. Mironov was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24 hour hold pending the filing of formal charges for Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card Device and Stealing.
