Thompson Austin — Austin, Texas

Here at TPG, we love Austin and we love Hyatt’s Thompson brand, so the upcoming Thompson Austin, scheduled to open Jan. 5, 2022, is a dream come true. A chic and sophisticated hotel, the new property will bring 229 rooms, including seven suites, to the Texas capital, all designed to help travelers get a little “Austin-tatious.”

Beyond the stylish rooms, designed by Chicago’s Simeone Deary Design Group, guests and locals can also enjoy food from the iconic culinary duo Mashama Bailey and John O. Morisano, the masterminds behind The Grey in Savannah, Georgia. In Austin, the duo are opening an all-day, full-service restaurant called The Diner Bar, plus a grab-and-go establishment dubbed The Grey Market. (Word to the wise: Pick up a jar of blueberry black pepper jam before heading home.)

How to book: Thompson Austin is a World of Hyatt Category 6 hotel, meaning award nights can be booked for between 21,000 and 29,000 points. With the World of Hyatt Credit Card, you could easily score two free nights at the Thompson Austin by earning 30,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first three months of opening an account, plus another up to 30,000 bonus points by earning 2 points per $1 total spent in the first six months of opening the account on purchases that would normally only earn 1 bonus point, up to $15,000 spent.

Tommie Austin — Austin, Texas

When we say we love Thompson and Austin, we mean it. And that’s why were double excited for Tommie Austin, the little sister property to Thompson Austin. If you’re unfamiliar with Tommie, you’ll be glad to hear that the brand is the community-driven, wallet-friendly outpost of Thompson, designed to be highly efficient and big on design.

With 193 king rooms, guests here can expect contactless check-in, mobile keys, a lobby wine bar and all-day coffee shop, and shared amenities with the connected Thompson Austin, like the fitness center. Overall, Tommie Austin packs a powerful punch in sleek rooms that have everything you need at a price that will make you smile.

How to book: Cash rates start at $199 for this prime downtown location. A World of Hyatt Category 3 hotel, award nights can be found for between 9,000 and 15,000 points.

Short Stories — Los Angeles, California

Found in West Hollywood, a dynamic and lively neighborhood in LA, Short Stories is an experiential hotel with a playful but chic design ethos Instagram will surely eat up. With just 66 rooms, the boutique hotel will offer guests a comfortable home away within walking distance to some of the area’s most popular attractions, restaurants and nightlife — if they decide to leave the hotel. And with a pool that looks like a David Hockney painting, an outdoor courtyard bar and a full-service restaurant, staying put is all too easy.

How to book: Rooms at Short Stories can be found as low as $240 by booking directly through the hotel and prepaying. Or, you could earn a stamp by booking through Hotels.com where you get one free night equal to the average cost of 10 paid nights, excluding taxes and fees.

Park Hyatt Jakarta — Jakarta, Indonesia

Love a bathtub with a view and Le Labo toiletries? Us, too, and that’s just one of the reasons the Park Hyatt Jakarta is a hotel we’ve been keeping our eyes on recently. Set to open in early 2022, the Park Hyatt Jakarta will occupy the top 17 floors of the 37-story MNC Land Tower and bring 220 guest rooms — all with those deep-soaking marble bathtubs we’re dreaming about — and the 36 suites to the Indonesian capital city.

Beyond the rooms, the hotel will also have a pool on the 35th floor, a pool open from 10 a.m. to midnight (midnight!), a fitness center and five bars and restaurants, including Kita, an “authentic but not traditional” Japanese restaurant.

How to book: The exact World of Hyatt category hasn’t been announced yet, but World of Hyatt members will be able to earn and redeem points at this exciting new property.

Madrid Edition — Madrid, Spain

Marriott’s luxury Edition brand is no stranger to Spain, having opened a few years back in Barcelona. Now, Spain’s capital city is getting in on the luxury — and ridiculously amazing signature Le Labo scent — with the soon-to-open Madrid Edition. Near Puerta del Sol and Madrid’s Golden Triangle of Art, three of the city’s most famous art museums, the Madrid Edition is as conveniently located as it is effortlessly chic.

This Ian Schrager hotel is set to be the place to be seen when it opens its palatial doors to guests. And with 200 rooms and suites, a restaurant, multiple bars, a pool, fitness center and spa, it has everything a royal could need. The good news, though, is that you don’t have to be royal to feel like it at any Edition hotel — and we’re sure this one will be no exception.

How to book: Marriott Bonvoy members will be able to earn and redeem points here. Historically, Edition hotels have been in the higher-tier Marriott Bonvoy categories, like the Barcelona Edition, which is a Category 8 hotel.

Star Wars: Galactic Cruiser — Orlando, Florida

Not so much a hotel as an out-of-this-world experience at Walt Disney World, Star Wars: Galactic Cruiser is a two-night, three-day, all-inclusive experience that has guests transform into temporary Jedis. During the two-day experience, which must be booked on selected dates by calling Disney directly, Jedis have the chance to learn how to properly wield a lightsaber, drive a starship and take a special journey to Black Spire Outpost on Batuu (also known as Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge).

How to book: At the moment, the only way to make a reservation for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is by calling Disney directly, but it’s still not quite that simple so we have a handy guide you should read to fully understand the experience, what’s included, what to expect and how to navigate the tricky booking process.

Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya — Tulum, Mexico

If escaping the winter’s cold for a nice beach in Mexico sounds ideal, it might be time to book a room at the new Conrad Hilton Tulum, opening on Jan. 15, 2022. Tulum has long been a respite from the (at-times) rowdy party scene in Cancun, and this new ultra-luxe Conrad property is sure to be a next-level experience. With 349 oceanfront rooms and suites, guests can relax in the room before heading out into the expansive property to play in the sun and sand, indulge in international delicacies from the resort’s 11 bars and restaurants, take a swim in one of the pools or recharge at the spa.

And if that’s not enough, off the resort guests can enjoy some of the incredible wonders of the area, including exploring underground cenotes or ancient Mayan ruins, joining a curated cultural tour of Tulum or heading into the wild jungles for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

How to book: Cash rates at the Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya can be found starting at $645, plus taxes and fees. Reward nights are available starting at 90,000 Hilton Honors points a night.

Stanly Ranch, an Auberge Collection Resort — Napa Valley, California

Ahhhh, Auberge. A hotel brand that truly understands how to give guests an effortlessly luxurious experience — albeit with an equally luxurious price tag — Auberge is set to open a new resort, Stanly Ranch, in March 2022 on the southern edge of Napa Valley. The “gateway to the Napa and Sonoma wine countries,” according to the resort, Stanly Ranch is set in a 700-acre private ranch and historic winery that dates back to the 19th century.

At the resort, guests can stay in one of 78 cottage suites, complete with outdoor firepits and vineyard views. Activities abound, seriously, starting with a focus on wellness. At Halehouse at Stanly Ranch, start a weekend detox in a spa pool before joining a yoga class followed by a specialized spa treatment. As for food, the working ranch is the core focus and healthy foods grown on-site in an array of bright, natural colors will dot every plate. Hikes, hot air balloon rides and even a trip in a World War II vintage airplane are on the menu for those looking for a little more adventure.

How to book: Cash rates at the Stanly Ranch start around $899 per night, but a quick calendar search of dates throughout the year are easily over $1,000 a night. But, hey, sometimes that’s just the cost of luxury.

Andaz Prague — Prague, Czech Republic

You don’t need an excuse to visit Prague, the ultra-charming capital of the Czech Republic. But, if for some reason you do need a little push, let me tell you about the upcoming Andaz Prague, set to open on March 7, 2022. The hotel, right in the center of the city’s most historic and central district, is set in a building known as the “Sugar Palace,” originally built in 1916. Thankfully, Hyatt is breathing new life into the storied building, complete with 175 well-appointed guest rooms, a restaurant serving “modern versions of Czech comfort food through the art of bistronomy” and a cocktail bar, plus a spa and fitness center.

How to book: A World of Hyatt Category 6 hotel, rooms here can be found between 21,000 and 29,000 points per night.

Kimpton Naranta Bali — Bali, Indonesia

If you thought the perfect bathroom didn’t exist … you probably haven’t seen the picture above of this absolutely stunning bathroom in a room at the Kimpton Naranta Bali. And yes, most of us can’t travel to Bali right now, but this new hotel opening is all the inspiration we need to start figuring out how to get there as soon as it’s safe and borders reopen.

Set to open March 31, 2022, the Kimpton Naranta Bali will have 50 villas on the southeastern corner of the island, near Nusa Dua beach. Created to combine “coastal luxury and famed Balinese warmth and service,” this resort serves up the blissful, relaxed Bali you’ve heard about, along with the design-heavy, contemporary style of Kimpton. Here, guests can find solace and sunshine on the beach, head out for a round of golf at the Bali National Golf Club or post up in a private poolside cabana with a bottle of champs and the people closest to you.

How to book: Booking details are not yet available for the Kimpton Naranta Bali, but the website currently says rooms will be available for booking starting March 31, 2022.
